about us
EIDOS was set up on 1974 by the Giovanni and Franco Tabasso brothers who, as graduates in electronic engineering, directed the company business activities towards development of the use of the micro-processor (an innovation at that time) for industrial applications.
At the outset, Eidos concentrated mainly on the design of micro-processor-based devices on behalf of leading industries (Olivetti, Fiat, Sasib, Microtecnica etc).
1976 marked the start of a period of development of sectors representing an ideal field for application of micro-processor capabilities: industrial electronic weighing systems.
Later, there was a considerable expansion of the product weighing sector. In industry, product weighing tended to become a moment in which to carry out accounting checks and document printout directly on the production line.
The appearance of bar-codes triggered the need not only to print the codes, but also to read them. Eidos therefore developed reading systems (tag readers and checking systems, readers that could be directly interfaced with commercial terminals etc).
The start of the Eighties represented a turning-point that would lead Eidos to design and produce its own exclusive products and also to set up a sales and technical service network.
The first industrial self-adhesive label ink jet printer with automatic applicator, the ROBOT JET, was designed in 1982.
In the ink jet marking system sector, Eidos created the MINIDOT ("drop-on-demand" type) and for many years this system was the only product of this type manufactured in Italy.
The first "thermal transfer" label printer, the RJT in the AE692 version, appeared in 1987.
In 1989, this was upgraded to become the S-950 model.
Production of the ROBO-THERM model started in 1993.
In 1997 an economic, compact printer, the PRINTESS, the direct heir of the previous models but intended for higher production volumes, made its appearance.
In addition to the Printess series, Eidos now offers a complete range of marking and coding products: Swing for direct printing on packaging film, tags and bags, the Coditherm "digital" marker for printing on objects (according to a patented method) and also EasycodeŽ, the label creation and management software.
The last generation printers are all provided with the new touch screen electronic unit.
The services offered by Eidos, a company that assures top quality from design to the end product, as confirmed by its ISO 9001 certification, also include technical assistance, spare parts and the supply of consumables (thermal transfer ribbons and labels).
EIDOS has been operating in the electronic automation for 30 years and is now a byword for efficiency and reliability.
Over the years, Eidos has continuously extended and improved its range of services and today addresses the market with a complete structure.
Eidos machines are the offshoot of the design capabilities and ideas of expert professional engineers and are produced entirely in Eidos laboratories, with a complete "made in Italy" technology.
Eidos after-sales services are based on an efficient technical assistance network and furnishing of consumables and spare parts (thermal transfer ribbons and labels).

In recent years, Eidos has worked increasingly towards production of specialized coding and marking printers for industrial products and based on "thermal transfer" printing.
Machines designed to meet all marking requirements directly on the production line.
Flexibility and reliability are the main characteristics of Eidos products.
Eidos is a forward-looking company constantly searching for ever more practical and versatile solutions in the field of industrial marking
